Special activity on Sunday!
An Encouragement Tour is always a weekend filled with variety. The team worked hard at painting one of the village houses. On Sunday, the team put on a cooking demonstration and along with some singing it made for a fun programme. After all, hot and sweet Tong Yuen were being cooked for the residents to eat.
What is Tong Yuen? To the Chinese, Tong Yuen (Glutinous rice ball) is eaten all year round, although it is commonly associated with the Chinese New Year, and the Lantern Festival. Glutinous rice ball is made by mixing glutinous rice flour with a small amount of water and form into balls and is then cooked in boiling water and served in syrup water.
However. . .
we found it many of the residents haven't had Tong Yuen for many years!
